Moonbeams / Ultraviolet
From their “The Daisy Chain” LP recently released. The whole album is excellent from the few times I have listened to it. This track is my favorite so far, with lots of droning lyrics and heavily fuzzed out dreamy guitars. You can stream the whole album on their bandcamp and pick it up for $8.
The Stargazer Lillies / Endless Days
Asobi Seksu / Counterglow
Belong / A Walk
Great band from New Orleans
Sway / Fall
The whole 5 track “The Millia Pink and Green” is really outstanding. I wish some of their newer stuff kept the same feeling, but it is much more Pop than Shoegaze now.
Burrrn / Shut My Eyes
As I’ve mentioned before, Japanese Shoegaze bands seem to have the sound down to an exact science. It’s as if we never skipped a beat between MBV to this group right here, from Tokyo.
Stella Luna / Stargazer
Repetitive wall of sound with barely discernable lyrics. But for some reason it is very capturing. I keep hoping that Stella Luna will put out new records, but it is really difficult to find anything on the band and what they are still doing.
Tears Run Rings / Destroyer
Finally picked up TRR’s second full length album which came out this past August. They have Shoegaze down to a science, sounding like they came from the same early 90’s generation of British bands. This track is only available on the Japan import version of “Distance”, and you also get “lo”. Those two tracks alone are completely worth the extra $2.
TRR is also a good example of a band taking full advantage of today’s technologies, with members living in 3 separate cities and sending recorded tracks to each other over the internet. Pretty amazing the tracks come out sounding so cohesive.
Shuji Nabara / The Sun Is Down (Plastic Nabara Band Mix)
Sometimes I think the Japanese do Shoegaze better than the original Brits. I ran into this track on Soundcloud which is posted by Shoegazejp. There isn’t much information on him/her to be found other than a myspace page.
This track is a remix of Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band’s “The Sun Is Down” done for a competition over at Imagine Peace.
A Shoreline Dream / Hypermode
These guys always crank out amazing sounds.
Daniel Land & The Modern Painters / Within The Boundaries
A really fantastic slow, dreamy song from this wonderful group from Manchester. Off their 2007 “Voss EP”
Astrobrite / Lollipop
Be prepared for some serious guitar fuzz, and crank this up!!!
Skycamp / Maya Deren
I stumbled upon this band through the bandcamp site, and I’ve really enjoyed their Transamerican EP. A somewhat shoegazy version of “The National”. You can grab their full EP for free here.
Slowdive & Washed Out / Space Around The Feel Station (Violens Remix)
This is a crazy mashup.
